-SUPPORTING YOUR STUDENT-

DO’S AND DONT’S

We get it, sending your student off miles away from home can be difficult for both you and them. Over the years, we’ve written down suggestions and ideas from both parents and students, to help your student have the best summer possible.

DO…

  • Encourage them to push through the tough moments (helps them build character)

  • Send them inspiring videos and quotes (helps motivate them)

  • Give them fun pump-up calls before work (feels like they have a cheerleader at home)

  • Ask them to share funny stories from their day after work (puts their heart in the right place)

  • Keep in touch with their student manager (helps both you and them know what’s going on)

DON’T…

  • Tell them to quit when they’re feeling down

  • Ask them about sales or how much money they made (it puts their heart in the wrong place)

  • Send them negative news (it puts their head in the wrong place)

  • Call them during work (it distracts them)

  • Tell them how much you miss them (they already miss you enough as it is)

OTHER IDEAS

Fast forward to the summer: how else can you support your student? Well, here are a few ideas from parents that were a hit with our FORCE kids.

CARE PACKAGES VIA AMAZON

Amazon makes it extremely easy to send care packages. Throw in granola bars, soup, energy drinks, favorite candy, and pens (weird, we know), and you’ll be the talk of the town.

SATURDAY NIGHT SURPRISE

Most kids will opt for pizza on Saturday nights with their roommates. Send one or two boxes of their favorite pizza to their host home and watch the appreciation texts roll in.

SUNDAY CALLS

This one doesn’t require any purchases, just your love. Let your student know how proud you are of them and the man/woman they are becoming. Trust us, it’ll go a long way.
